“Transmissions from Camp Trans” – Lesbian women still should be able to attend MWMF and just because there lesbians shouldn’t exclude them. – Classical
“Home for the Homeless” – homeless people are not worthless they are people too they didn’t choose to be homeless just certain thing came up and they shouldn’t be disregarded. –Rogerian
In my paper, I still have a lot of research to do because everything that I try to search I’m not getting the proper things that I need. I’m getting mainly statistics or results from different track meets. I’m also waiting on getting an email interview from a track coach that I know. Also I really have no clue at this moment of what my claim will be in order to get my 10 page paper. I think im worrying to much on the paper length then actually doing the research. So this weekend I will be in the library to get book sources because the internet is not really giving me much feed back. Also I think interviewing will give me more information then internet and library source at this time.

Field Site: Track Meet
In the field site you have multiple track athletes training, warming up, stretching, communicating, and plotting on how they are going to run they race, and sleeping. Many of them are inside to stay out of the sun so it won’t drain their bodies. Also many athletes are rubbing down there legs and shins with ice, tiger balm, or icy hot to relieve pain. You also have coaches checking recent event results to see what their athletes been running. They also communicate with other coaches and giving tips to their athletes about how they should run they next event. Also majority of the time at my field site the athletes are running there events on the track. You see them prepare their blocks or starting position and then when signaled to run they run.
Many of the people in this subculture interact by the relays teams practicing their hand off to prepare for the relay run. Or you have athletes from the same team warming up together to get ready for the race and giving each other advice on what to do and how to improve. Also you have the coaches calling athletes to meet with them to give them a pat on the back and say, “good job,” or to critique them on what they did wrong. Also while viewing what’s going on. You notice not just running going on you have many field events taking place. Such as high jump, pole vault, triple jump and long jump.
I really didn’t have any questions about what was going on because everything was pretty much self explanatory. There was nothing to question or ask why they were doing what they were doing because it was obvious. And lastly I asked a runner why he ran his race the way he did. I asked him did he give up at the end or was that his strategy on running his race. His reply was it was his strategy but it didn’t really go as planned so he ended up not doing as well as he wanted to. He was very upset because his strategy did not work. His strategy was to sprint hard the first 200 meters of the 400 meter dash, then slow down in the curve and then sprint hard on the last 100. But when he slowed down it gave the other athletes and opportunity to pass him.

Act V: Prisoners Performing Arts
What makes this a good field site?
~This is a good field site because everything was actually shot their where the prisoners were. The directors were actually there with real prisoners and was able to observe real prisoners and there actions. They were able to write the play based off of what they seen and not the assumptions because they were actually there. And being there actually gave a true feel of what was going on. And lastly the fact that they were real prisoners observed and interviewed.
What observations does the author make that gives us a better understanding?
~The part where the prisoners had to be stripped before they were able to rehearse and he described how the room was and what it looked like before they were able to enter. . Also from the get go he gives details on the prisoners. He also compares the characters and just observes there acts. This helped me get a better understanding of the subculture.
What interview techniques work to help us understand the subculture?
~All of the personal interviews gave the inmates time to open up and explain there parts in the play and it helped me understand their duty in the play. By this being done it gave us the opportunity to learn and gain insight about what went on and this particular subculture.
What are the norms and values of the subculture?
~The norms are that they work to together as a team. They also all share an interest in acting and performing their parts in spite of the crimes they committed and they don’t let it get in their way.

Reflection:
I believe that the book The Divine nine: the history of African American fraternities and sororities will help me with my research because it has a lot of good information. Not only just with fraternities but it gives me information about fraternities and sororities. So it gives me a chance to compare the two and also compare the difference between each divine 9 and not just focus on one specifically. Also it gives me a chance to not be biased towards one or the other and read upon all 9 of them and the significance because as of now I’m still naïve about a lot of things dealing with fraternities and sororities so this book will enhance my knowledge.

Inchoate:Reasearc on our Word!
While researching my word inchoate through GSU library website there were books that came up with either that word used. Or in other words the books came up that pertain to that word or had keyword relevance. Inchoate can be used more then one way. It can be used as either a noun or a verb. I learned that inchoate means; just begun, incipient; in an initial or early stage; hence elementary, imperfect, undeveloped, and immature. (Oxford English Dictionary) That’s the definition of the word used as a noun form. The word also can be used in a sentence such as this: The position I have ventured to maintain..as to the inchoate, imperfect, and transitional work of John.(Oxford English Dictionary) Inchoate used as a verb is said , To begin, commence, initiate, take the first steps in. (Oxford Dictionary) To use inchoate as a verb in a sentence here’s an example. How he..Conceives and inchoates the argument.(Oxford English Dictionary) Doing some more research on the library website I went to find articles and more and I noticed there werent any articles on this word but there was a journal called Inchoative aspect in French.(Wilson Web) This word was hard to find 5 sources on because it wasn’t like it was a book. It was a word that the only thing I can really find use on the library website was the dictionary. And the dictionary gave me variety of definitions used for as a verb and a noun. And it also gave me many ways the word was used in a sentence. So my search was very limited to the things I needed to use to research my word. So the oxford dictionary and Wilson Web on the GSU website is the only thing I found useful and gave me a little bit of information for my word.

Who am I?
The process that I took to research my author was that I typed in Ludacris name in yahoo search engine and I clicked on the first search. The first search was the official Ludacris website that had his biography, news, pictures, and etc. I clicked on biography to read about him to see what he’s about. I looked at this website because it said the official website so I figured it would be a lot of information that I can gain from it. But the disadvantage of this site is that it’s open to a lot of other artists. So it’s not a lot of valuable information for this artist. So I went to another site to see what better information I can get about Ludacris. It is called Ludacris world to where it’s mainly about Ludacris and no other artist so if focused mainly on Ludacris. It includes some of his songs and his lyrics. I looked here because it’s mainly his world so I got more information from this site then I did the previous one. From this website I learned a lot I got some good information about this artist. I also am appauled about why he made this song, “Runaway Love” because a lot of his songs are explicit. So this is something that I found interesting because he went out of his norm to produce something so real. This song makes you think he went away from the normal “hoe” or other explicit words used in his lyrics. But I found a disadvantage in this website the more I began to look over the website I noticed it didn’t really have a biography on him. It just focused more on his music and he albums he came out with. So it helps in a sense to where I can relate it to his work but not any background information. So both of these websites had advantages and disadvantages that helped me do my research.

Peer Review
The peer review session today in class went well. We exchanged each others papers and critiqued them. It went well because it’s always better for someone else to read your paper because they can find more mistakes then the writer can. Not only did we have one person read our paper it was two. That’s a good idea because whatever the first person missed the second person can catch it. They left very helpful comments that can further help me write my paper. This is a good way to help each other write our papers.
What could have been better was if we had enough time to discuss each others papers with each other. Time is so short that we only have time to read each others papers and fill out our drafting sheet. I would like for a person to point out my mistakes and verbally inform me of my mistakes and not just me leaving the classroom and just reading the comments left on my paper. Also being able to explain more of what the person needs to work on to better their paper as a whole. But time is so limited that we don’t have time for a lot of that. So with that being said peer review can be so much better if we had more time.

PCU
Watching PCU we were asked to find one logical fallacy that coincides with this movie. I think that Hasty Generalization is one and this is a conclusion based on insufficient or biased evidence. I believe this was one because by watching this movie a person who hasn’t set foot in college would already get bad vibes about it and would think negative because of some of the things portrayed. For example: what college do you know that you walk into there dorm room and they smoking and got cigarette buts all over the place. Also the visiting senior on the first day already got a mental and physical picture of what college life is just by that first day visit. But what he doesn’t realize is that is not how college life really is. So a person watching the movie will think that this is how college life is when it really isn’t. Okay yes, you do have different clubs or organizations trying to promote their causes but not to that extreme. What happened to the studying, hanging out, classroom settings, networking, and etc? That’s what the majority of college is about but that was not portrayed in this movie. All we mainly saw is the negative with the drinking, partying, and etc. Yes there are college students that engage in that type of activity but not all the time. So hasty generalization is the correct logical fallacy because by watching PCU you will get the wrong impression and already have this outlook on college. From that movie it will not be that positive but who will have to actually wait till you get there to realize it’s not as bad as it is portrayed.

Death of an Innocent
McCandless character probably does not exist and if so it is very rare. And yes society has changed over the past 15 years that it is all about economic. McCandless was an Emory grad student who’s major was history/anthropology which informs me that he was very intelligent. Because, first of all he was accepted into Emory and graduated with a degree such as that. What grad student do you know graduates with they major and doesn’t do anything with it to earn a living and earn money. But by reading this story we learn that McCandless is not any ordinary college student. First of all he didn’t enjoy the party that he did attend. He wasn’t interested in Phi Beta Kappa he felt that “insisting that titles and honors were of no importance”, what college student is not interested in fraternities and sororities that’s the main thing on most college campuses. And lastly he wondered out in the forest wanting to be alone and money wasn’t an issue for him.
Money is the key to success in this society. Everyone is out to make themselves a little bit richer then the day before. Think about it: why do you think so many people waste money on lottery tickets? Because it’s mostly all about who comes out richer in the end or more successful. Unlike McCandless he had 20,000 dollars left out of his account and he put it all towards a relief fund. 99% of college or grad students if they had that kind of money would not give it away to any sort of fund. Mostly everyone relies on money. I noticed from my experience that if I have money in my pocket I’m content but once I go broke for a day or two it feels like a tragedy. And I’m quite sure that I’m not the only college students who feels like that when they are broke. No person in their right state of mind would give up everything to go on the type of adventure McCandless did. Society today is too stuck on competing with the person next to them, trying to come out better then them in anyway possible. And money is the main attraction, without money we wouldn’t have the things that we have now to set ourselves apart of the person next to us. At the same time it’s kind of sad that that’s all that people rely on now because we shouldn’t be so dependent on one thing. I think McCandless did a good thing to go out and better himself because he gave up the most important thing, money, and learned how to survive. Maybe it was a little extreme but no person in today’s society would give up money to go be alone and survive. Money is too much of a demand that without it people are unhappy. Think about “bums” they are without money but everyday they scrounge to get a nickel or dime out of someone in order to survive, because they feel that without it they can’t move on. But reading this story McCandless proved that you can survive without money for many, many days.

Aids and Advertisement
I don’t believe this advertisement appealed to consumers at all because I feel as though why should a picture make a consumer now want to help aid campaigns. It shouldn’t take a person to look at a picture to support aid victims. It should already be instilled in them to want to help people with aids. This clothing line to support aid victims I believe has no affect on the consumer because I know by me looking at this picture its not going to make me buy the product. Either I support aid victims or I don’t. Either I buy the product just because I want to contribute my money or I don’t. Not to sound harsh but that’s how it is. Looking at this advertisement may be sad because the person is suffering from aids but this shouldn’t be used to influence anyone to support aids. I feel like if a person wants to support aid victim then that’s what they should do because they feel like it’s a need. I understand why this picture was used it was used to influence the consumer to buy the product and the money spent will be used to go towards aid campaigns. But, either a person is going to look at the picture and be in “aww” and possibly buy the product or they wont. Like mentioned earlier a person who really wants to support aid victims will buy the product regardless of this advertisement. They already have it in their heart to want to help these people but not by being influenced by a picture. A picture shouldn’t influence you to support any campaign if it’s something that you want to do it will already be in your heart to buy the product and you knowing that, that is what the money is going towards. Me personally aids have been around for a long time and many people believed that it was a gay STD that was just transmitted by gay men. And then gay men brought it home and infect they wives or girlfriends. I mean some of that claim could be true and that can be a reason people still feel that Aids is such a horrible thing. Don’t get me wrong it is but then again babies are born with Aids and those are the ones that can’t help it. They came in this world innocent but infected by a non-innocent disease that they can’t get rid of. Those are the things people should consider when it comes down to helping aid campaigns. Everyone who has Aids it doesn’t mean they carelessly did unsafe sexual acts some people were born with it and couldn’t help it. So the point I’m making is we should take those things into consideration when buying a product to help aid campaigns and knowing that a picture does not influence the consumer because either they are going to buy the product regardless of how sad the picture wants to portray the aid victim or not.
